Co-Infection Project (Kenya)

  • Scope: Hybrid (virtual/physical) Field Biorisk Management training for frontline human and animal health workers across multiple Kenyan counties, delivered in 23 days (Jan-Mar 2022).
  • Adapted Resources: Used Kenya National BRM Guidelines (developed by Galencare) and materials from Sandia Labs, WHO, WOAH, and CDC.
  • Capacity Building: Trained county-level workers (veterinarians, PHOs, clinicians, lab techs, outbreak responders) on BRM for priority zoonotic diseases, integrating One-Health concepts.
  • Methodology: Didactic sessions, application exercises, and participatory facilitation focused on learner experience.
  • Deliverables: Equipped participants with critical knowledge, disseminated BRM SOPs, and produced comprehensive training reports.
  • Expert Facilitation: Led by Prof. Wallace Bulimo (KEMRI).
